Stand-Up Puzzles

These puzzles are made of thicker hard and soft woods and can be displayed standing up. The majority of the 3D puzzles I make are of animals, but these can be made of nearly any subject matter imaginable. Some of these puzzles are more traditional and are made of regular jigsaw pieces while others may be interlocking families of animals or the pieces may be made up of the features and contours of the animal or object. Some special 3D puzzles, called 'woodimals,' incorporate the name into the shape of the animal. 3D puzzles may be painted, stained, or left natural and receive a coat of natural beeswax finish.

These puzzles are some of my earlier efforts. Mostly cut from pine, the edges have been rounded over by hand and a beeswax finish has been applied.

Also early projects, these puzzles are also cut from pine. They were painted several years later in 2016 with acrylic craft paint.
